Everfuel opens hydrogen refuelling station for Frankfurt bus operator

Denmark’s Everfuel has opened a hydrogen refuelling station at a Frankfurt bus operator’s depot in Germany. Opened at In-de-City-Bus’ (ICB) depot, the refuelling station will service 23 fuel cell buses for daily city and municipal public transportation.

The depot station is owned by the bus operator ICB and will service 23 zero emission fuel cell buses used for daily city and municipal public transportation. Everfuel developed and constructed the refuelling station and will supply hydrogen to ICB on a minimum three-year contract. The hydrogen will be delivered by Everfuel’s hydrogen trailers.

“We are pleased to celebrate the inauguration of ICB’s refuelling station. The opening is an important step in Everfuel’s ambition to make hydrogen available for heavy-duty mobility fleets starting in Germany,” says Lars Jakobsen, Sales Director of Everfuel. “ICB is at the forefront, pioneering the transition. I would like to extend my gratitude to ICB, which has been a treasured partner in development of the refuelling station, and I look forward to the continued cooperation.”

Supplying hydrogen to heavy-duty mobility applications is part of Everfuel’s strategy to develop large-scale production of green hydrogen in Denmark and supply customers across Europe, starting with Germany. It is the second dedicated bus station built by Everfuel and a key part the strategy of providing clean energy solutions for public transportation, supporting Frankfurt’s transition to zero-emission buses. ICB’s hydrogen depot station has capacity for refuel at least 23 fuel cell buses daily and has potential to scale capacity as demand grows.

Following today’s opening of the ICB station, Everfuel is currently suppling hydrogen to two dedicated bus stations with Wuppertal bus station in Germany as the next station to be added to the portfolio.
