The conference provided attendees with the latest insights about how North America is positioning itself as a leader in clean ammonia production, in the critical energy hub of Houston, Texas. The Inflation Reduction Act announced in 2022 transformed the project landscape for global clean ammonia production, placing the US Gulf Coast at the centre of clean energy production for the world. With 2024 being a particularly important year for project development and regulatory updates, expert speakers provided critical updates on the industry’s progress and what more is needed to drive project realisation for clean ammonia in the United States.
Over the three days of the conference, attendees explored these big questions with players along the value chain including producers and project developers such as Pattern Energy, Clearway Energy, OCI Global and more as they outlined what they need from regulators and industry partners to turn their projects into a reality and kick-start the market. EnBW, Maersk Tankers, NYK Transport (USA), Wilhelmsen, Amogy and more, provided perspectives from key domestic and international consumers of clean ammonia. Key sessions also discussed the critical importance of certification and its role in making clean ammonia a fungible commodity with key stakeholders including Yara Clean Ammonia, Hinicio, ClimeCo, DNV Energy and Ammonia Energy Association.
